Can you count how many knots he is weaving per minute? Can you guess how long it will take a highly skilled weaver to make a medium size rug?

A seasoned artisan can tie 6,000-10,000 knots a day. A decent quality rug with the size of a square-meter has a total number of knots between 570,000 and 960,000. To make a rug with 600-knot-count, it takes him one year. Can you imagine weaving one silk rug for an entire year? To make it a higher quality, say 800-knot-count, it will take one person a year and a quarter to complete. To reduce the lead time, often two or three weavers collaborate round the clock.

Idea #1: Family portrait.

Would you like a portrait of yourself on a rug? It will make a great pictorial rug to hang on a wall. How about a family portrait? Or your favorite friend, pet, or a loved one on a silk rug? It will be a gift that he or she will keep for the rest of the life.

What you see above and below are pictorial rugs, both in 100% pure silk. In the above photo, you can also see the back of the rug. The back is important as it is regarded as soul of the rug. Instead of oil painting, you can display this silk rug either side: front and back. While low-quality or fake Persian rug may have a back that is not presentable, the above is like a picture and painting. It is highly detailed, so it is completely appropriate to display the back when you want a subtle change: just flip it and hang it.

Idea #2: Hide or blend in someone or someone’s name on the rug

Can you find Leonardo da Vinci in this part of the Sistine Chapel's ceiling? Just as he disguises himself in a painting with angels, would you like to have someone or something blend into a pictorial rug? How about all your family members’ names woven along the edge of a rug in an artistic way in English, Farsi or another language? All the names become part of the rug.

In the above photo, the designer's name is artistically hand-knotted into the rug. It is as if it be a part of the whole design. Why not put your name? Why not your loved one's name? It will be special to weave the recipient's name on the rug. It truly makes the gift one of a kind.

Idea #3: A beautiful antique reborn.

Do you fancy an antique rug that is just sold for $20 million dollars on a Christie’s auction? Send us a picture. We will make you one anew. It won’t be antique, but we will make sure it will age well to become comparable.

Instead of the rug on an auction, it can be a sentimental rug that was lost or damaged. We will make you a quality-replacement.

Idea #4: Date a gift - anniversary date

Similar to the Idea #2, how about weaving your personal signature or a special date onto the rug. It is a brilliant way to commemorate whether it be your parents' wedding date or your child's birthday. It truly shows to the recipient that you care.

Had you already missed that special date, worry not. Tell the person that it is currently being made by us.

Process:

(1) You choose size, color, shape, design, material, etc.

(2) We will send you a sketch.

(3) Review the sketch and request us for any changes.

(4) Reiterate 2-4.

(5) Make to your order. Weaving process begins. It may take up to several months depending on the size, knot count, and design.
